August is National Immunization Awareness Month

This August, Blue Hills is proud to promote National Immunization Awareness Month (or NIAM). This campaign was established to help promote the education and importance of vaccinations and to make sure all ages are up to date on their vaccinations. Each week of the month focuses on a different age group: school-age children, pregnant women, babies and young children, preteens and teens, and adults.

Vaccinations not only protect us from serious diseases but they also protect other through a phenomenon known as community immunity or herd immunity. It can also help protect those who are unable to vaccinate due to medical complications. Vaccinations are recommended throughout our lives and are very safe.

As the new school year approaches, parents are encouraged to make sure their children are up to date on their vaccinations. We recommend that you call our office for an appointment ahead of time as it can get very busy during this time period.
